Tasty Baking Company’s peanut butter supply is safe for consumption
PHILADELPHIA (January 18, 2009) — In light of the expanded recall of peanut butter and peanut butter-based
products, Tasty Baking Company announced today that all Tastykake products, including the iconic Peanut Butter
Kandy Kake, are safe for consumption and not included in the national recall program.
Tasty Baking Company does not have a supplier relationship with Peanut Corporation of America (PCA). Further,
Tasty Baking Company continues to uphold its nearly century-long reputation for quality assurance on its
ingredient supply chain. This corporate quality assurance program includes rigorous internal testing of
ingredients, including peanut butter, for any bacteria, such as Salmonella, or contamination.
